Bookkeeping Cleanup that
· Restores accuracy for taxes
· Builds trust in reporting
· Improves insight for planning

Camelback Bookkeeping (CBBK) is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and
Intuit Developer
built on an extensive background in accounting (Arthur Andersen), data-analytics, and financial data-science (Numerai).

Corrective Bookkeeping is all CBBK does

Cleanup isn't a side-gig we try to squeeze in while maintaining a portfolio of client's daily transactions, it's our only focus.

Our aim is simple: support business owners and their accountants by finding what's broken and correcting it, so downstream decisions and taxes are built on numbers that hold up.

Clean Books Are the Foundation Tax and Reporting Depend On

Standard cleanup procedures can miss the structural errors that make books unreliable. Camelback Bookkeeping (CBBK) treats data integrity as the foundation of every engagement, improving summary and manual reviews with multiple transaction-level audits.

Through rigorous diagnostics, we identify the equity and liability distortions that break data integrity, giving us a detailed blueprint and more accurate path for data correction.

The result are books a CPA or owner can rely on: correctly classified, internally consistent, and ready to support tax filings, lending or advisory work without caveats.

Who We Serve

Business owners and CPAs facing books too broken, too tangled, or too far behind for standard monthly bookkeeping to fix.

What We Do

Structural diagnostics, transaction-level audits, account balance analysis, and full corrective cleanup, start to finish.

How We Fit

A project-based partner, brought in for the cleanup and out of the way once the books are correct.

Structural & Transactional Reviews

Every engagement starts the same way: test whether the statements hold together (structural review), then trace the transactions behind them (transaction review). One tells us what's broken at the statement level, the other tells us exactly where and why.

Structural: Position & Performance Review

GL Integrity • Cross-Statement Verification • Foundational Error Detection

We test whether the statements actually hold together, not just whether the books “look” balanced, but whether every subtotal foots to its total, every classification matches its economic reality, and every number on the P&L agrees with its counterpart on the Balance Sheet.

  • Identify structural errors that distort every ratio built on top of them.
  • Verify equity, liability, and asset classifications against their true nature.
  • Confirm the numbers agree with themselves before we trust what they say.

One misclassified account can quietly invalidate every ratio derived from it.

Transactions: Multi-Pass Historical Analysis

Full-History Register Review • Payee Pattern Tracing • Categorization Consistency

Summary review catches what's obviously wrong. It can miss the six-figure check with no category, the vendor split across different classifications, or the payee whose only appearance is the largest transaction on the books. We trace every payee and category across the full history, not just a sample of it.

  • Surface uncategorized, misrouted, or inconsistently classified transactions.
  • Trace all historical activity across to catch drift and mixed treatment.
  • Flag anomalies that summary-level review is structurally built to miss.

If it happened in the register, it's in scope, not just what made it to the summary.

How We Work

Whether you're a business owner or a CPA acting on a client's behalf, engagements follow the same disciplined path: diagnose first, then fix what's broken until the books hold up on their own.

  1. 1

    Scope the problem

Short call or brief email to understand where the books stand today, what's driving the concern, and whether you need catch-up work, a quick tune-up, or a full cleanup.

  2. 2

    Diagnose

You provide QBO access or exports. We run a structural review of the Balance Sheet, P&L, and transaction history to find exactly what's broken and why.

  3. 3

    Clean

We do the hands-on work: reclassifying, reconciling, and correcting the books until they hold together and tell an accurate story.

  4. 4

    Report

Once the books are sound, you get plain-language reporting that documents exactly what was found, what was corrected, and where things stand.

Catch-up and Cleanup are data integrity processes. They do not constitute audit, review, compilation, tax, legal, or investment advice.

Why Camelback Bookkeeping Exists

Cleanup on genuinely messy books is difficult to scale, so most firms treat it as an add-on and checklist, something to do “when there's time”. We understand the importance of data integrity for tax, reporting and planning, so we make it the priority and treat it as a deep diagnostic exercise.

Cleanup is noisy, and rarely quick

Legacy mergers of charts of accounts, partially cleaned periods, periods closed with errors, and unexplained equity moves make it hard to quickly answer: “How bad is this, and what will it take to fix?” Our scoping layer exists to answer that question fast, before a full cleanup engagement begins, and then as a progress layer while work is being done.

Summary review isn't enough

A quick glance at the Balance Sheet won't catch a payee split four ways across two years, or a six-figure check with no category. We trace transactions and payees across the full history, not a sample, because that's where the real issues live.

Most issues hide in plain sight

Standard cleanup procedures catch transactions and high-level issues, not deep structural breaks. Camelback Bookkeeping was built to find the sign reversals, misclassifications, and equity distortions that summary review misses.

How We Approach a Cleanup

When you’re dealing with years of history and thousands of transactions, structure and patterns are hard to see by inspection alone. We follow a disciplined process to find what's broken and prove it.

  • Structural review: Verify every statement foots to itself and to its counterparts, catching foundational errors before they cascade into every downstream ratio.
  • Transaction, category & payee tracing: Multi-pass analysis of every register entry, to catch drift, inconsistency, and mixed treatment vendor by vendor.
  • Anomaly detection: Flag misclassifications, sign reversals, and equity distortions that summary review is structurally built to miss.
  • Documented findings: Deliver a clear, defensible record of what's broken, why it matters, and what correcting it will take.

None of this replaces the professional judgment of your Accountant, of course. It narrows the scope, surfaces what a summary review would miss, and sets realistic expectations about what the cleanup will involve, how much it will cost and how long it will take.

While modern financial platforms have transformed maintenance and reporting efficiency, they are ultimately built for consistency and standardization. Camelback Bookkeeping was created for the exceptions: irregularity, ambiguity, and the moments when the numbers cannot be taken at face value.
